Laser hair removal is safe, comfortable, and can be used to stop hair growth anywhere on the body. Laser hair removal works by targeting the hair root or blood supply using a concentrated beam of light. The light absorbed by pigment, damages the follicle and renders it incapable of growing hair. This results in long-lasting reduction in the hair growth of the treated area. Laser hair removal results in

long-term hair-free skin (for some people hair never returns) although everyone is different, so results can vary.

WHAT DOES IT FEEL LIKE?

 

Some patients find laser hair removal uncomfortable, but not painful. The laser at The Rejuv Room is among the latest and best in the industry. Our laser has the ability to put cooling liquid in the hand piece through a mini radiator, in turn taking the heat from the laser to reduce discomfort. You may find following your treatment that your skin may be a little red like a mild sunburn, but this will pass quickly. We suggest not to wear tight clothing on the area or excessive exercise for 24 hours to prevent aggravating your skin.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?

 

Laser hair removal targets hair in the Anagen phase which is when the hair is still attached to the root and follicle. It is typical for most clients to require between 6 - 8 treatments, planned every 4 - 6 weeks to ensure each hair has been treated in its correct phase.

IPL OR LASER TREATMENTS?

 

There is a lot of confusion and misconceptions about permanent hair reduction – many people think IPL, VPL, and laser are all the same. You will even find some clinics referring to all hair removal machines as ‘laser’ for the sake of simplicity, however they are not laser.

 

Pulsed light and laser machines work on the same basic principle where light energy is absorbed by high pigmentation areas such as hairs, where heat can damage the follicle, slowing hair growth and even preventing it from returning. Lasers can be controlled so that they focus on a small area and travel a much larger distance without spreading out (or scattering) like other light sources will.

 

The characteristics of lasers can therefore be utilized for the benefit of laser hair removal. The laser can travel deeper down into the pore, giving a concentrated blast of light to the follicle, and therefore be more specific in the treatment it provides. The Rejuv Room has a clinically proven Diode Laser (a proper ‘pew pew’ laser) – that has one function, to remove unwanted hair and give you silky smooth skin.

If you have been sunburnt, exposed to the sun without adequate protection, used a sun bed or tanning lotion you should postpone any laser treatment for a minimum of 3 weeks.
